For enquiries about Methodist Centre services, this assistant combines spoken Cantonese with written replies in a Traditional Chinese interface. Visitors can ask about services, activities and membership applications, then follow up on the answers. It suits people who want to express a question first and explore the information gradually, including situations where sustained typing is inconvenient.
There are two input approaches.
Questions can also be typed directly. Users can switch between asking immediately and reviewing their wording first to suit the situation.
The interface distinguishes recording, preparing text and waiting for a reply. It prompts a retry when no speech is recognized and allows text input when the microphone is unavailable. If a previous message is still being sent, recognized text can remain in the input field for confirmation. These behaviours make the current stage visible and preserve an opportunity to check the wording.
The project provides enquiry assistance: speech is an input method and replies are written. History depends on records retained in the current browser. Activity registration and membership applications must still be completed through the relevant channels, and important service arrangements should be confirmed with the centre.
I independently owned the Cantonese consultation experience, frontend development, speech and Q&A integrations, and deployment. Combined direct voice input, editable transcription, streamed replies and conversation history into an accessible local-service workflow built around external AI services.
