Project overview

Workloom brings knowledge and actionable work into one workspace for individuals and small teams. Start by importing documents and organising folders and sharing, then record work in tables and follow it through email, tasks and calendars. Information is kept in your own deployment, with access and editing governed by the permissions granted. It suits teams that want to maintain their own long-term knowledge and work records.

Import documents and review together

  • Bring in material: Import Word, Markdown and text material in batches and find it through private knowledge, public knowledge, shared-with-me and favourite views.
  • Editing and comments: The editor supports text, images and attachments, with a table of contents for longer documents. Comments keep discussion alongside the material.
  • Versions and conflicts: Versions can be saved and restored, preserving the current version before restoration. When edits conflict, users can compare their local changes with the latest content before choosing how to proceed.

Organise work in tables

  • Multiple views: Tables hold structured work lists with configurable fields, filtering and sorting, and table, kanban, calendar and Gantt views. The same records can be examined by detail, status or date as a discussion changes.
  • Collection and export: Form views collect submissions as new records, and tables can be exported for further work, connecting information collection with follow-up.

From email follow-up to scheduled work

Email that needs attention can become a task. Tasks can then be scheduled on the calendar with a date and time, recurring events and advance reminders. A request encountered while reading can become scheduled work rather than remaining only in a message or document. Sharing, comments and different views help the team discuss next steps around the same information.

Assistant support and open-source origins

Authorised AI tools can assist with existing workspace content. The online instance also has project-memory capabilities for facts, decisions and preferences that help preserve project context. Some online memory functions are not yet included in the current public source; self-hosted installations should be assessed against what the repository actually contains. The workspace requires sign-in, and organisation and collaboration features can be adopted within the actual scope of use.

Workloom builds on the open-source Jianji project and continues its development, retaining the original copyright notice. Application code is under the MIT License. Core document, table and collaboration capabilities come from that project and subsequent extensions.

Ownership & delivery

I independently planned and delivered Workloom’s product upgrades, interaction and architecture improvements, frontend and backend extensions, deployment and iteration. Building on the open-source Jianji foundation, I added folder organization, batch imports, collaboration conflict handling and a public document recycle bin, extended team authentication and branding, and integrated MCP/CLI tools.

AI Form Recognition and Preparation

Turn a form image into a field inventory and a web-form preview, preserving input types, required fields and options so business and delivery teams can discuss its digital version against the original.
