Project overview

Xiaoyu Fuse Bead Pattern Maker helps prepare craft projects by turning a favorite image into a reference with a grid, brand color codes and bead counts. It takes users from choosing an image to knowing which beads to prepare and where to place them, bringing image preparation and material counting into one workflow before crafting begins.

Choose the size and colours

  1. Upload and set the grid: Upload prepared cartoon artwork, then use a suggested grid based on the image's proportions or choose the rows and columns yourself to suit the intended size.
  2. Choose brand colour codes: Select the color-code system for the bead brand you have and set the number of colors you want to use.
  3. Preview and adjust the scale: Grid size and color choices involve different detail trade-offs, so users can generate a first version, inspect it and adjust it to the scale of their project.

Adjust the pattern and supplies

  • Merge similar shades: When a design contains too many similar shades, users can adjust how closely related colors are merged to concentrate the supply list on fewer codes.
  • Adjust outlines and white areas: They can also choose a color theme, strengthen outlines or retain or remove white areas.

These controls support practical decisions about clear shapes and manageable materials instead of requiring users to accept the first conversion. The tool is better suited to cartoon artwork; detailed photographs need to be prepared as images that translate well to a grid.

Check the pattern and supply list

  • Inspect the enlarged pattern: The generated pattern includes a color-code legend and can be enlarged, dragged and zoomed to inspect local details and bead positions.
  • Compare mirrored and original versions: A horizontally mirrored version can be generated for reverse placement, with the option to switch back to the original for comparison.

The grid and its color references support checking the overall shape and then individual areas before deciding whether to adjust size or colors further.

Download the final PNG pattern and a CSV color-count sheet listing the quantity of each color and the total. These outputs help users check existing supplies, prepare missing colors or print a reference to follow while placing beads. The preparation process produces a portable pattern and materials list for personal crafts, repeated versions of the same design or planning supplies for an activity.

Ownership & delivery

I independently designed and built the bead-pattern tool, including image processing, brand-color mapping and its interactive workspace. Integrated grid sizing, color merging, mirrored previews and material counts with pattern and supply-list exports, turning visual ideas into practical making references.
