Project overview

This service-monitoring and alerting tool brings scheduled checks, fault notifications, and incident review into one console for people maintaining several websites and services. Maintainers can create checks for the services they care about, review recent states, and follow records from failure through recovery rather than relying only on user reports. Notification sending results are shown separately so the alerting step can also be checked.

Set up checks and alerts

  1. Define conditions: A check can specify a name, frequency, wait limit, expected response state, and required content. Maintainers can choose how many consecutive failures trigger an alert, whether reminders repeat, and whether recovery should produce a notification.
  2. Run checks: Saved checks run on the configured schedule and can also be run manually from the console.
  3. Review after changes: Different alert conditions can be chosen for transient connectivity problems and persistent failures, with subsequent results available for review after a change.

Track expiry, incidents and recovery

  • Certificate expiry: Certificate monitoring draws attention to expiry in advance, with a configurable warning period so renewal can be included in routine maintenance.
  • Failure and recovery: When a service fails, the console retains check history and incident records. When it recovers, the incident records that recovery and can trigger a recovery email.

Comparing times, errors, and notification records helps establish whether a problem is continuing and whether the service passed its checks after intervention.

Identify where a problem occurred

  • Log alerts: Alongside active checks, the project can receive Vercel log entries for 500 errors and send alerts.
  • Notifications and scheduling: Mail records show sending results, while scheduler records help establish whether scheduled work was triggered as expected. This separates a service problem, a missing check, and a failed alert-send attempt into distinct points of investigation.

The tool supplies monitoring evidence and follow-up context within the configured checks and connected logs; it does not automatically repair business services.

Ownership & delivery

I independently owned product planning, monitoring-rule design, the management console, backend and deployment. Connected scheduled checks, certificate-expiry reminders, incident recovery and email alerts, with separate execution, scheduling and delivery records that make service maintenance traceable.
